Honda to shut plant for two months

Honda has confirmed it will shut its Swindon factory for two months next year, emphasising just how far new car sales have slumped in recent months.
The plant builds Honda Civics for Europe and CR-Vs for the USA. The shutdown means 21,000 fewer vehicles will be manufactured.
During the shutdown in February and March, workers will receive basic pay, but miss out on any overtime payments. There will be no redundancies.
The announcement follows Bentley's decision to run a three-day week at its Crewe factory, Land Rover's switch to a four-day week at its Solihull plant and Toyota's decision to cut night shifts at its Burnaston site.
