Renault has unveiled a hot hatch concept version of the all-new Clio.
While standard Clios hit UK showrooms this October, the Renaultsport version of the car you see here will not arrive for another nine to 12 months.
Renault is keeping tight-lipped about the power output of the new 2.0-litre engine but expect a little more than the current 182bhp offering. This power will be transferred through a new six-speed gearbox instead of the current five-speed – and continues to drive the front wheels.
It is likely to be slightly more expensive than the outgoing version, which cost from £13,900.
The Renaultsport concept car shown here does without the current model's roof spoiler and instead adopts an F1-inspired rear diffuser, which also houses the car's twin exhausts. The company says the diffuser is 'pretty certain' to remain on the production version.
Lots of chrome and leather can be found inside but, as with most concept cars, you can expect the individual bucket seats in the back to be dropped in favour of a more conventional bench.
Renault has no plans to replace its two-seat, rear-wheel-drive, rear-engined Clio V6.
