A What Car? reader has managed to buy a brand new Vauxhall Corsa for just over £5000.

Sandra Docherty, from Helensburgh in Scotland, spotted a 1.0 in Life trim in Arnold Clark in Glasgow for £8995. The list price is over £10,000.

Life trim cars went off sale at the end of last month, so with some determined haggling, a Toyota Corolla to scrap and further discounts through her GM credit card Sandra secured her Corsa for a whisker under £5350.

She put her deposit down on Sunday and the car was delivered on Tuesday.

'It's the first new car I've ever had,' said Sandra. 'I'm absolutely delighted.'
