BMW will launch a new baby for its fast and powerful M range late next spring with the £38,000 1 Series M Coupe.
The 335bhp car can accelerate from 0-62mph in just 4.9 seconds, which is as quickly as a £51,805 M3, and has a limited top speed of 155mph. Average fuel consumption is 29.4mpg, while CO2 emissions are 224g/km.
The 3.0-litre engine produces 369lb ft of torque with an extra 37lb ft available for short bursts of full throttle acceleration.
The 1 Series M Coupe has a wider track front and rear than the standard car, while the suspension is also lowered and the brakes uprated, all to improve cornering ability.
Larger 19-inch alloys are fitted as standard, along with chrome tailpipes and rear light clusters with LED bulbs. The 1 Series Coupe also has wider wheelarches and a lip spoiler for greater downforce.
Buyers will be able to choose from just three colours – white, black or orange. The car goes on sale next spring.
