How good is our crystal ball? - Ford Mondeo

18 October 2007
We published this CGI of the Mondeo back in the summer of 2006 and it was a development of a concept car seen at an earlier concept car, the Iosis first seen in 2005.

This was Ford's new design language called Kinetic Design.

The S-Max was the first production car to feature this new look, followed by the Mondeo, which went on sale earlier this year – and went straight to the top of our family car charts.

Computer-generated image

This CGI made a bold prediction, and was clearly inspired by the Iosis concept car.

Apart from the four doors, the look is more coupe than family hatchback.

Mondeo-man must have thought he was in for a real treat when he saw these pics last year.
Production car

It's a likeness, certainly, but let's face it, the production model isn't half as sexy as predicted.

That's probably a good thing for Ford, as Mondeo-man might well have had a heart attack if the computer-generated car was ever put into production.
