How to... cut your service bills - Introduction

05 December 2006
Servicing your car is a bit like going to the dentist: it's preventative treatment, you don't particularly look forward to it and there's a huge bill at the end.

These bills are unavoidable if you want to keep a valid warranty, and prolong the life of your car. How much you'll have to pay can vary enormously. We've found five ways that should help ease the sting. We even show how it's possible to save money at a franchised dealer - often the most expensive place for a service.

Wherever you choose to take your car for servicing, don't delay booking a service once it's due. Go too many miles over the limit or 30 days beyond the due date and you'll invalidate your warranty. You can also help yourself by reading the service book so you know what needs to be done.
