How to... cut your service bills - Take your car to 'sibling' manufacturers

05 December 2006
FOR Cheaper service, still from a franchised dealer
AGAINST Can take a while to find one who will agree to do the service

Different cars from different makes can be identical under the skin, and this means that you could get your car serviced at a 'sibling' franchised dealer.

We asked for quotes to service an Audi A3 from four South Yorkshire dealers within the VW Group family. Prices ranged from £166 at a Skoda garage, to £199 at a VW garage and £210 at a Seat dealer. Audi's own dealer quoted us £251.

However, many dealers prefer not to service a car from another make, so it can take a long time to phone around for a good deal.
