Hyundai will unveil three vehicles at this year's Frankfurt motor show, including an all-new hydrogen-powered concept car.

The i-Blue Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle (FCEV) uses Hyundai's third-generation experimental fuel-cell technology. It produces zero emissions and the company hopes to put the concept into production by 2017.

The car is based on a part-4x4, part-estate body platform.

'Our engineering team has designed a more compact fuel cell vehicle, while still realising the safety, comfort, convenience and driving range of a traditional internal combustion engine vehicle,' Dr Hyun-Soon Lee, Hyundai's president of research and development.

In addition, Hyundai will exhibit the Veloster concept, named after a combination of the words velocity and roadster.

The car is a four-seater sports coupe with a panoramic roof. It is aimed at first-time car buyers in their early 20s.

The five-door i30 Estate is longer than the current i30 hatchback model, allowing additional luggage space.

Full details of the car, including prices, will be released shortly before its UK launch in early 2008.
