Infiniti G Cabrio concept car revealed

This is the Infinti G Cabrio concept car that will be shown at the Paris motor show later this week.

Following on from the Infiniti Performance Line (IPL) variant of the G Coupe, the G Cabrio concept car gives a taste of further models wearing the sporty IPL badge.

The G Cabrio concept car shares many of the IPL G Coupe's enhancements, which are designed to improve acceleration, handling and power, without compromising aspects such as the look and feel of the materials used.

What is it?
The G Cabrio has a new bumper with a blacked-out grille and headlight surrounds. The concept car rides on 19-inch graphite alloys encased in sculptured side sill extensions.

Inside, the centre console is finished with black lacquer, while the dashboard area above the glovebox and doors are covered with Kacchu, the name given to the armour used by Japan’s samurai in the Middle Ages. This translates to small iron plates that are woven through cloth to provide lightweight strength and flexibility.

Performance
Under the bonnet is a 333bhp 3.7-litre V6 petrol – 8bhp more than the standard unit thanks to a dual exhaust system, that reduces pressure by 30%.

Top speed of the de-restricted concept is around 168mph, with 0-62mph in less than six seconds.

Other features include noise-cancelling technology, head restraint-mounted speakers, seats with internal heating and cooling and adaptive climate control. There's also a 13-speaker Bose stereo with a 30 GB hard disk drive.

A decision on launching IPL Infinitis in Europe will be taken after reaction to the G Cabrio concept car has been analysed.

Infiniti has also released a sketch of its first electric car, which will go on sale in 2013.

The sketch of the compact, high-performance, five-seat luxury car was revealed during a ceremony to mark the opening of the brand's Infiniti Centre at London's Piccadily.
