Infiniti M in detail - Safety

29 April 2010
A suite of new features under the name of dynamic safety shield aims to provide an all-round ‘bubble of protection’. They include the new blind-spot intervention system, which actively counter-steers if you look like swapping lanes into the path of another vehicle. The M will also allow you to maintain your distance to the car in front through the cruise control, warn you to brake harder if a collision is likely and prevent you from inadvertently changing lanes. The four-mode drive selector includes sport, standard and snow settings as well as eco.

Global sales
The M is the first Infiniti to be sold in all 34 countries in which the company operates, and is a cornerstone of its plan to reduce its dependency on the American market. China, India and Russia are increasingly important sales outlets for big, luxurious cars, but western Europe is also still significant, especially as all the top names in the premium-car business have their headquarters there. Europeans bought 220,000 executive cars in 2009, despite the recession, and half of them were V6-powered. So, even without small-capacity petrols and diesels, the M has a chance of making Infinitis a less rare sight on our roads.
