There are five trims - Expression, Life, Design and SXi from the old car are joined by a new mid-range Club spec. Prices start at £7495 for the three-door 1.0 Expression, rising to £13,795 for the five-door 1.7CDTI Design.
The biggest increase with the new
Corsa is £500, for the 1.0-litre Expression, but you now get a CD player, powered door mirrors, central locking, a passenger airbag and follow-me-home headlamps that weren’t available before.
Many models cost less, though. The biggest cut is £885, slashed from the 1.2-litre Life, even though it has all the additions found on the base model plus electric front windows, remote locking and electronic brake assist (to shorten stopping distances in an emergency).
Mid-range Club spec seems at first glance to be the best choice, although that means a minimum price of £9195, which gets you the 1.2-litre engine.
It’s the lowest point in the range that gives you rake and reach-adjustable steering, side curtain airbags and split rear seats; there are red or blue upholstery and door panels to match the coloured surfaces in the instrument panel; the driver’s seat is height-adjustable and the CD player is MP3-compatible.
SXi is the sporty option, with grippier seats, a leather-covered wheel, a matt-chrome console finish and sports suspension; Design has air-conditioning and a piano-black laquered centre console.
