Ford Ranger driven - Introduction
The benefit-in-kind tax advantages of pick-ups are long gone and the recession has further hit sales of these commercial vehicles, but that hasn't prevented Ford from giving its workhorse Ranger a 'kinetic design' make-over in line with the rest of the company's range.
Kinetic design is Ford's marketing speak for the sporty look it has given its cars since 2005, when the latest Galaxy and S-Max were launched.
For the updated Ranger, this means a new grille, bumper, headlight cluster and door mirrors at the front, and redesigned lamp clusters at the rear, while the interior has been refreshed, too.
The Ranger is available in three bodystyles – Single Cab, Super Cab and Double Cab. The Single Cab is a two-seater that's primarily aimed at business users. The Super Cab is a four-seater, and the Double Cab seats five.
There are XL, XLT, Thunder and Wildtrak trims. XL is focused on the business user, and the remaining three aimed at pick-up buyers who want a car that's suitable for business and private use.
