iPod-ready cars - Mazda

Choosing a Mazda with iPod functionality isn't straightforward, so we've split the options down model by model.

The 'iPod adapter' allows you to plug in your iPod and select tracks using your Mazda's stereo. It also lets you charge an iPod on the move.

Mazda 2
The 2 comes with a standard auxillary input socket, but you can also spec an iPod adapter for £150 (plus fitting). It works with all iPods apart from the Shuffle, Touch and Nano with 8 GB capacity.

Unless you buy another switch box (£52 plus fitting) you'll lose the aux input with the iPod adapter, though.

Mazda 3
An iPod adapter is available for £150 (plus fitting) on the S, TS, Sport and MPS. It won't work with the Shuffle, Touch or Nano with 8 GB capacity, or the six-CD MP3 changer option.

Mazda 5
You'll need two adapters to integrate your iPod with the Mazda 5, so you'll have to shell out a total of £262 (plus fitting). They are only available on the TS and TS2, and won't work with the Shuffle, Touch or Nano with 8 GB capacity.

You also can't go for an iPod adapter if you've specced the six-CD MP3 changer, Bluetooth system or satellite navigation.

Mazda 6
An iPod adapter costs £51 on the 6, and the price includes fitting. It won't work with the Shuffle, Touch or Nano with 8 GB capacity, the six-CD MP3 changer or the Bluetooth option. It's only available on the S and TS (or the Sport and SL if the standard Bluetooth system is disconnected).

Mazda MX-5
You can spec an iPod adapter on the 1.8i, 2.0i and 2.0i Sport for £150 (plus fitting). It won't work with the Shuffle, Touch or Nano with 8 GB capacity, or the six-CD MP3 changer option, though.

Mazda RX-8
No iPod connectivity available.

Mazda CX-7
No iPod connectivity available.
