Is diesel dead? - Introduction

A year ago, a litre of diesel cost just half a penny more than petrol. That meant diesel drivers doing high miles could save quite a bit in the long haul.

Things have changed. Fuel prices have rocketed over the last few months, and diesel has jumped by a third to around 13p a litre more than petrol.

So, is diesel dead?
