Is diesel dead? - Depreciation

02 June 2008
Fuel isn't the only cost involved with owning a car, of course. The other big one is selling (or depreciation, in other words). Diesels cost more to buy, but they do hold their value better - for the moment, at least.

What Car?'s Used Car Editor, Matt Sanger, said: 'Bigger diesel cars generally hold their value better than petrol versions. However, if the cost of diesel fuel continues to soar, I expect many diesel cars to plummet in value as petrol cars become cheaper to run.'
