Jaguar Land Rover is creating more than 1100 jobs in the UK at its West Midlands factory as it expands production.

Jaguar will be building the new XF Sportbrake estate and the new F-Type sports car at its Castle Bromwich facility, and is launching the recruitment campaign for production line workers today.

Castle Bromwich also builds the XF saloon, the XK coupe and the XJ saloon.

The jobs add to the 8000 positions that Jaguar has created in the past two years.

The Government welcomed the announcement, with business secretary Vince Cable saying: 'This is fantastic news for Castle Bromwich that Jaguar Land Rover is creating more than 1000 jobs to support the production of new models at the plant. This expansion is a clear demonstration of Jaguar Land Rover’s continuing commitment and investment in the UK.'

The new model will also create thousands of jobs throughout the manufacturing supply chain, according to Jaguar.

'The launch of our latest Jaguar models, including the new XF Sportbrake later this year, means it is a very exciting time for Jaguar,' said JLR CEO Dr Ralf Speth.

'These new models will attract new customers to the brand as we look to expand our global reach and further enhance our position in the market.'
