Jaguar XK production to end in the summer
* Four-seater been surpassed by new F-type
* No replacement, but XE Coupe rumoured
The Jaguar XK will end production this summer, the company has announced.
The coupe and Cabriolet went on sale in 2006 but sales have dwindled. It is now being surpassed by the F-type which went on sale last year, sharing aluminium technology and a supercharged V8 engine with the XK.
However both the F-type Coupe and Roadster are two-seaters and there's no word yet on whether the company will replace the XK with another four-seat sports car.
More likely, according to rumours, is that Jaguar could return to the four-seat coupe market with a two-door version of the forthcoming XE saloon. Such a car could be a much stronger seller than the XK and provide stiff competition for the BMW 4 Series and Audi A5.
In the meantime, anyone interested in buying an outgoing XK can expect some increasingly tempting deals. According to the What Car? Target Price team you can currently negotiate a minimum £15,000 discount on a new XKR-S Convertible, making it just over £88,000.
