JD Power Satisfaction Survey 2006 - Introduction

08 June 2006
The best way to find out what a car is like to live with is to ask someone who owns one.

That's just what the researchers at J. D. Power and Associates have done. In fact, they've asked 14,884 people exactly what they think of their car, warts and all.

The results give a comprehensive picture of life with 105 models, from the humblest supermini to the grandest executive saloon. If you want to know which cars are reliable, which dealers take care of customers, and which models cost least to run, this is the place to look.

On average, each car rated in the survey has been driven 16,312 miles. That makes this a 242,787,808-mile test. What you won't know after that kind of mileage probably isn't worth knowing.

In this feature we detail the category winners and name the runners up. We also have a league table of every model in the survey, a manufacturers' league table and the overall winner. Full details of every car in the survey can be found in the August issue of What Car? magazine, on sale now.
