JD Power Satisfaction Survey 2006 - Executive cars

08 June 2006
When you buy an executive car you assume you'll get satisfaction and in this class there are few disappointments. Only three cars failed to finish in the top 50: the Saab 9-3, the Vauxhall Signum and the Alfa 156. The star performer, though, is the Lexus IS. The sinner among the saints – the 156 – finished 83rd and bottom of the executive car table.

Class winner
Lexus IS
Rating86.8%
Overall ranking 1st

It's a winner in its class, and it's a winner overall. The Lexus is top of the tree for good reason – in six out of the eight categories it is rated as excellent.

Owners like the looks, the interior and the handling. They also enjoy the professional, value-for-money service they get from their dealerships.

Lexus IS owners have one reservation: fuel costs. The level of criticism was particularly high – the Lexus IS scored lowest of all the cars in this class when owners were questioned about fuel costs.
The introduction of the IS220 diesel this year is a move that will appease owners who are not happy with the fuel economy they are getting. With that issue addressed expect the Lexus to remain at the top of the table next year.
