JD Power Satisfaction Survey 2006 - Family cars

08 June 2006
Last year we warned that three Japanese cars were breathing down the neck of the Skoda Octavia at the top of the family car class. Well, one of them has displaced it for the first time since What Car? began publishing results of this survey.

That honour goes to Honda Accord – although Skoda remains an impressive performer. At the other end of the table we're delighted to report that French cars are continuing to improve.

Class winner
Honda Accord
Rating 85.4%
Overall ranking 4th

Honda Accord taking class honours comes as something of a shock after a run of victories for the Skoda Octavia.

In fact, the Accord is one of three Hondas in the overall top 10. It's a thoroughly impressive car, rated by owners as very good in all but two of the categories. The only blip concerned its running costs, but otherwise is was virtually impeccable.

Honda dealerships were reported to be excellent, the Accord's looks were the most highly rated here, and almost every aspect of the cabin – from the quality to layout and equipment – was at the very top of the class. Likewise, its quality and reliability (particularly mechanical) were a lesson to others.
