Kia Picanto review
I was told yesterday that our Picanto would be going back to Kia in the morning, and I couldn't let the little fella go without taking it home one last time. I wish I hadn't.
We haven't had many reliability problems during our year with the car, but on its final day of service, the key decided to explode. The two sides of the plastic casing had come loose from one another, so when I turned the key in the ignition barrel, everything fell apart – the metal part remained in the ignition, while the rest of the key disintegrated into its component parts, which all fell into the driver's footwell.
It took me a good few minutes to find all the bits and press them all back together. Press hard enough, and the central locking buttons still work, albeit intermittently. However, the key still feels very shaky, and could repeat the feat at any given time.
So, the key has lasted just one year. Sure, the Picanto comes with a seven-year warranty, but our local dealer couldn't tell us for certain whether the key was covered. If we were keeping the car for longer than a year (which, let's face it, most buyers will), we could have been lumbered with a fairly pricey problem.

I had the Picanto for the weekend recently, and it was a bit of a mixed bag.
It was agile and responsive around town, and ideal for those tight parking spaces. However, when it came to overtaking a cyclist in second gear, the Picanto really struggled and left me with a slightly red face.
