European Union plans to force car makers to give up part of their adverts to cigarette packet-style pollution warnings could lead to the manufacturers finding new ways to promote their products.
That was the warning from Kia UK managing director Paul Philpott, who said: 'Advertising is there to increase the desirability of your product. Sticking Government health warnings on car ads will lead us to find alternative ways of getting to our consumers.'
The European Union will debate the proposal next month, with Liberal Democrat MEP Chris Davies leading calls for 20% of all car advert space to be filled with a compulsory pollution warning.
