  • Two metal-roofed convertibles on the way
  • First is fourth model in Cee'd family
  • Second is based on next Picanto supermini

KCV concept is based on the Picanto

Kia insiders have confirmed to whatcar.com that a pair of new convertibles with folding metal roofs is on the way.

The first will be built on the same platform as new Cee'd Ford Focus rival, which makes its world debut at the Paris Motor Show this week.

It's set to be the last model to be added to the small family car range – following the five- and three door versions and an estate - so it's unlikely to arrive before spring 2008.

Kia has already shown a coupe convertible concept called the KCV III, but this is unlikely to give any clues as to what the Cee'd cabriolet will look like.

The KCV concept is a smaller design so, if anything, gives some pointers for the Picanto-based convertible that insiders also confirmed will be built, but it will be some years before it makes it to the production line.
