This is the new Kia Soul pseudo-4x4, which will be unveiled at the Paris motor show next month.

Despite its high roofline and off-road looks, the car, which will go on sale next spring, is described by Kia as a five-door hatchback. It is front-wheel-drive only.

Buyers can choose between 124bhp 1.6-litre petrol and diesel engines, which are available with a choice of manual or automatic gearboxes. The diesel engine produces 188lb ft of pulling power and the petrol 115lb ft.

Prices are expected to start from around £11,000.
