Kia has revealed that its new Sportage crossover will go on sale earlier than originally planned.
Although the bulk of the range – including two-wheel drive, petrol and further diesel versions – will arrive in November, a highly specified First Edition model will go on sale on August 1.
This four-wheel-drive model comes with a new 2.0-litre diesel engine that averages 47.1mpg and emits 156g/km of CO2, both of which are considerable improvements on the equivalent engine in the outgoing range.
Among the standard equipment will be leather upholstery, dual-zone climate control, automatic wipers, LED daytime running lights and 18-inch alloy wheels. There will be a choice of five colours, as well as the option of a manual or automatic gearbox.
Full details on the new model, along with its price, will be announced later this month.
