Kia will unveil its all-new Sportage at the Geneva motor show in March.
The new Sportage is longer, lower and wider than the current model, and is expected to go on sale here in the autumn.
Sportage gets sporty
The new car has radical, sporty styling. Where the current car is boxy and upright, the new Sportage blends the new-look family nose – as seen on the latest Cee'd and Sorento – with a much sleeker body. There’s even a hint of Volkswagen or Audi in the sleek, coupe-like profile.
The new model retains the raised driving position and higher ground clearance expected of a crossover, but Kia says that the new five-seat car will have more space for passengers and luggage than the current model.
Kia also says the longer wheelbase will also give it a better ride quality than the current model.
Details to follow
Precise details of the range are yet to be confirmed, but we expect both two- and four-wheel drive versions of the car to be available.
The engines are yet to be announced, but we wouldn't be surprised to see some smaller units join the range alongside the existing 2.0-litre petrol and diesel engines.
There's no word on the price, either, but we expect the new Sportage to remain in the £15,000 – £20,000 price range of the current vehicle.
