Kia's all-new Sportage crossover will cost £20,777 when it goes on sale on August 1.
First Edition trim
The first 800 cars will be in exclusive 'First Edition' trim. They will be powered by a 134bhp 2.0-litre diesel engine linked to a six-speed manual gearbox, and come with four-wheel drive as standard.
A six-speed automatic gearbox is available as an option, along with a choice of five exterior paint colours.
Equipment
Standard kit is comprehensive and includes leather upholstery, heated front and rear seats, dual-zone climate control, Bluetooth and a USB socket. There’s also a reversing camera and sensors, cornering lights and LED daytime-running lights. Glossy 18-inch alloy wheels, rear privacy glass and roof rails enhance the Sportage’s sharp styling.
Competitively priced
The Sportage First Edition will be £1200 cheaper than the entry-level Ford Kuga and comparable VW Tiguan, while the equivalent Nissan Qashqai is £2718 more expensive at £23,495.
The full Sportage range will go on sale in November. It will include 1.6-litre petrol and 1.7-litre diesel engines, both with stop-start systems to improve fuel consumption and lower CO2 emissions. Front-wheel-drive versions will also be available. Prices for the full range have yet to be confirmed.
