Kia takes on Jeep - but not in the UK

Kia is taking on the Jeep Grand Cherokee and Ford Explorer with its new Borrego 4x4 - but it won't be bringing it to the UK.
The car, which has three rows of seats, is bigger than the current Sorento and boasts genuine off-road credentials, featuring downhill and hill-assist controls as well as the usual safety equipment such as traction control and stability control.
However, it has been deemed unsuitable for the UK market because it only comes with the choice of 3.8-litre V6 or 4.6-litre V8 petrol engines.
Although the car will go on sale outside America under the Mohave name, the lack of a diesel engine means any plans to bring it to the UK have floundered.
'Without a diesel option, it would not make sense for the UK market because the market demands it - apart from those customers looking for a large, luxury 4x4,' said Paul Philpott, managing director of Kia Motors (UK) Ltd.
The car goes on sale in the US this summer, and a pick-up version may follow if there is demand.
