LA Auto Show 2011 - Subaru BRZ Concept STI

16 November 2011
Subaru has unveiled the BRZ Concept - STI at the Los Angeles Auto Show today.

The production version of this stylish coupe will be launched at the Tokyo motor show later on this month.

So for the moment we'll have to make do with this version of the BRZ concept car, which has been co-developed with Toyota.

The BRZ and Toyota FT-86 share most parts under the skin, including the rear-wheel-drive chassis and Subaru-developed 2.0-litre four-cylinder 'boxer' engine.

In this the pistons lie flat in two opposing pairs, punching out like boxers. Subaru says that the BRZ’s engine layout and low placement within the car will help to give it a particularly low centre of gravity and therefore great handling.

This concept car has a carbonfibre roof, which helps keep its weight down.

We've yet to see the interior of the car. This, as well as the technical specifications, is being kept under wraps until the production car is revealed in Tokyo.

The BRZ is expected to go on sale in the UK next spring.
