Labours priorities for motorists are to tackle congestion hot spots, promote road safety and encourage the manufacture and take-up of greener cars here in the UK.
Theres a 6.2 billion widening programme for key sections of the M25, while on other critical routes we are increasing capacity through use of the hard shoulder at peak times.
We are looking to impose higher daily charges to utilities companies, as a penalty for overrunning roadworks.
We have also ruled out national road-pricing for the next parliament period.
We are cracking down on uninsured drivers, too, while also taking action against rogue clampers.
We want to make the UK a world leader in the manufacture and take-up of greener cars. We will support UK-based manufacturers and have committed 400m to subsidise the purchase of low-carbon cars and help create a national grid of charging points for electric cars.

Secretary of State for Transport
