Land Rover and Jaguar have both issued recalls, Land Rover for the third time in a month.
Discovery 3 and Range Rover Sport models are being recalled to examine passenger seatbelts, after it was found that these could fail.
Land Rover says the mounting for the buckle on the left second row seatbelt might not be strong enough and could fail in an accident.
In all, 264 Discovery 3 and Range Rover Sport models are affected by the potential defect. The vehicle identification numbers for affected models are SALLSAA136A917993 to SALLSAA136A919707 and SALLAAA176A355648 to SALLAAA176A356888.
Land Rover says the mounting exceeds statutory requirements but doesn't come up to its own needs.
Land Rover has also recently recalled models because of unsuitable jacks and the parking brake system on automatic transmissions which could fail to engage.
This same automatic gearbox with its potentially defective part is also used in models from sister manufacturer Jaguar.
A total of 109 XJ and S-type owners are therefore now being contacted by Jaguar as their cars' gearboxes might fail to engage park, even when it is selected and displays as being in operation. The handbrake of the car is unaffected and can still hold the car in place.
The VIN numbers of the cars Jaguar wants to check are SALLSAA136A917993 to SALLSAA136A919707 and SALLAAA176A355648 to SALLAAA176A356888.
