Grande Punto, passengers were very well protected in both front and side impacts.
The structure of the car remained intact with no rearward movement of the screen pillar or rupture of the footwell compartment. The chest and knees were especially well protected.
Although some trim interfered with the deployment of the curtain airbag, it operated well enough for the Punto to pass the Euro NCAP pole test (in which the car is propelled sideways at 18mph into a pole). Fiat is working to address the issue before the car goes on sale.
Britax Duo Plus
child seats were used and offered fair protection in the Fiat. Chest loads were reasonable and side crash protection was good.
In pedestrian tests, the leading edge of the Punto's bonnet provided some cushioning, although some central sections weren't as effective. The front portion of the bonnet provided the least protection.
