Latest Euro NCAP crash test results - Introduction

28 April 2006
There were two close calls in the latest duo of four-star crash tests from Euro NCAP.

Fiat's Idea MPV only just managed to scrape four out of five stars, while the Nissan Pathfinder 4x4 narrowly missed out on the maximum five-star result.

Neither car fared particularly well in pedestrian impact tests, the fiat scoring only one star out of four and the Nissan two.

Five stars might not be the maximum score for occupant safety for much longer, however. Euro NCAP is working on incorporating whiplash trials into its tests and upping the top score to six stars.
