28 February 2007
Overall occupant protection 5/5 stars
Front impact 81%
Side impact 94%
Child protection 82% 4/5 stars
Pedestrian 61% 3/4 stars

The Legend was awarded the top five-star rating for occupant protection, but the dashboard still presented a risk of injury to the knees and legs of the driver and passenger.

The rear door on the impacted side became unlatched in the side impact test and the car lost one point.

It is not possible to disable the front passenger's airbag, so a rearward-facing child restraint should not be used seating position. The presence of ISOFIX anchorages in the rear outboard seats was not clearly marked, but the Legend has a seatbelt reminder system for all seating positions.

The car detects when a pedestrian has been struck and has a mechanism to pop up the bonnet, increasing the gap between the bonnet surface and hard components in the engine bay. The bumper scored maximum points for the protection it offered to pedestrians' legs.
