Latest Euro NCAP crash test results - Toyota Auris

22 December 2006
Overall occupant protection 5/5 stars
Front impact 94%
Side impact 100%
Child protection 76% 4/5 stars
Pedestrian 58% 3/4 stars

The knee airbag protected the driver's knees and femurs in the frontal test. Toyota presented information to Euro NCAP that showed that the airbag would also protect occupants of different sizes sat in a variety of driving positions.

Maximum points were scored in the side impact and pole tests.

The passenger airbag can be disabled to allow a rearward-facing child restraint to be used in that seating position. Information regarding the status of the airbag is provided only in English so the system was not rewarded by Euro NCAP. The presence of ISOFIX fittings and top-tether anchorages was also not sufficiently well marked.

The Auris has a seatbelt reminder system for the driver and passenger seats which met Euro NCAP's requirements.

Protection offered to pedestrians' legs by the bumper was rated as predominantly 'fair', as was the adult head protection provided by the bonnet. However, the front edge of the bonnet scored no points.
