Latest Euro NCAP crash test - Toyota Yaris

27 October 2005
Overall 5/5 stars
Front impact 95%
Side impact 99%
Child protection 68% 3/5 stars
Pedestrian 49% 2/4 stars

The Yaris almost scored full marks in its ability to protect front seat passengers. Chest loads in the front and side impact tests were the only areas were the Yaris was marked down.

The driver did not make contact with the steering in frontal tests, while the cabin remained intact.

Britax's Baby-Safe Universal child seat was used to examine the loads experienced by the 18-month-old test dummy, while a Duo Plus was used for the three-year-old. Protection afforded to both was good.

Some sections of the supermini's bonnet provided fair protection to pedestrians, but cushioning was poor down the sides. The leading edge of the bonnet was considered fair, but the bumper was described as weak.
