Latest Euro NCAP results - Land Rover Discovery

28 July 2006
Overall occupant protection 4/5 stars
Front impact 69%
Side impact 100%
Child protection 80% 4/5 stars
Pedestrian 22% 1/4 stars

The Discovery III scored maximum points for its performance in the side-impact and pole tests, but the dashboard presented a potential risk to the knees of both driver and passenger. The steering column locking mechanism, adjuster lever and glovebox lid all presented a risk of injury.

The passenger airbag could be deactivated to allow rearward-facing child restraints to be used in the front passenger seat, but information regarding the status of the airbag was not sufficiently clear to meet Euro NCAP's requirements.

The presence of ISOFIX anchorages in the rear seats was also not clearly marked.

The bumper and the leading edge of the bonnet scored no points for the protection they offered to pedestrians.
