Ford Mondeo buyers face a wait of up to four months for popular diesel engines.
Order a 2.0-litre diesel Mondeo today and it could be the end of February before it's on your driveway.
The problem lies with the wide range of products that depend on the engine. The diesel was co-developed with Peugeot and Citroen and is used for a number of their products as well as Ford's.
Strong demand for the new Mondeo and a limited allocation of engines for the car mean it is suffering from particularly long delays.
Ford says it is prioritising delivery to retail customers over fleets and doing everything it can to reduce the waits.
Beat the queues
If you can be flexible over trims and colours, you might be able to cut the wait for a 2.0-litre diesel Mondeo. If you insist on specific colours or unusual equipment combinations with any car, you face longer waits.
You might also be able to find diesel Mondeos that have already been built and are on offer through brokers, but pin down any dealer on delivery times and check our Target Prices before you buy.
