Volvo's S40 saloon and V50 estate have been given a mild makeover in time for summer.
The S40 has had a nose job to bring it in line with Volvo's designs cues first seen in last year's S80 executive car. That means the S40 has a redesigned grille and air intake - Volvo fans will also notice the badge is now half as big - while the rear has tweaked tail lights and a new bumper and boot handle.
Just as the S40 has been made to look similar to the S80, the V50 has been similarly tweaked to look like the new V70.
The interiors of both cars have been revised and safety kit has been upgraded. Headlamps that swivel as the car turns are now an option, ISOFIX points in the rear seats are standard and when the airbags are deployed, hazard lights are automatically activated.
A six-speed manual gearbox is available with the D5 engine and T5 models get a 10bhp power increase to 230bhp.
Prices should be released within the next couple of weeks, with first deliveries of the new models expected in July.
