My commute to work has been improved immeasurably this week with the arrival of the Mazda 3, which I’m delighted to have been granted custodianship of. It’s such a pretty car, but what’s really struck me is just how smooth the ride is. The 3 is impervious to the pockmarked roads on my route - it glides over them, so I’ve been able to waft into work in a state of serenity.

I’m really looking forward to life with the Mazda, and getting to know its impressive array of standard kit that comes with SE Nav trim, including sat-nav and the excellent multimedia command system. In fact, the only extra we needed to spec was the striking Soul Red metallic paint – in my opinion, the best colour in the palette to show off the car’s elegant lines.

I think it’s fair to say I’m going to enjoy the next 12 months.
