Mastretta MXT

Mastretta MXT

Think Mexico and you'll think of chilli beans, droopy moustaches and sombreros.

Now you'll have to think again, because the Mastretta MXT unveiled at the British motor show is, according to its maker, the first car designed and built in Mexico.

Powered by a 239bhp 2.0-litre Ford engine, and weighing less than 900kg, this rear-wheel-drive sports car sprints from 0-60mph in less than five seconds, going on to a limited top speed of 150mph.

Weight-saving touches include a semi-monocoque chassis made of aluminium, and fibreglass body panels.

It will be distributed in the UK by Lifestyle Automotive, and full production is to start in January next year.

First UK deliveries are scheduled for next May and prices start from 32,999.
