Mazda MX-5: the next chapter - Deals on the outgoing MX-5

24 June 2005
If you can’t wait for, or can’t afford, the new MX-5, the existing model makes a worthy alternative.

With the new model waiting in the wings, you should be able to get a good deal on the outgoing roadster, and this will help to offset the inevitable dip in residual values it will take as the new car starts to appear on UK roads.

Our Target Price shoppers reckon you should aim to save around 10% off the price of any of today’s range. That puts a starting price of £13,557 on the cheapest 1.6-litre and £16,265 on the top-of-the-range 1.8-litre.

Our new weekly deals section also shows there are other incentives and added savings to include on top of these discounts.

For a start, there’s a choice of free accessories worth £750 on standard, non-special edition versions, from luggage racks to aluminium pedals. When haggling, bear in mind that Mazda is also giving its dealers a £1000 bonus to sell standard versions. Try to get as much of this extra cash for yourself as you can.

The MX-5 Arctic special edition, which comes with heated leather seats, also comes with a guaranteed £500 minimum saving. Mazda is also giving dealers a £500 bonus for each Arctic sold, so there’s more room for you to negotiate money off here. Both of these savings are, again, available to buyers in addition to our standard Target Price discounts.
