The diesel version of the Mazda 2 supermini is now available to order, priced from £9499.
The model is powered by a 67bhp 1.4-litre engine. Fuel economy is impressive and carbon dioxide emissions are low, with official figures of 65.7mpg on average and 114g/km of CO2.
That's green enough to fit in road tax Band B, with an annual bill of just £35.
There are two trims. The TS version comes with steel wheels, driver and passenger front airbags, remote central locking, electric front windows, electrically adjustable door mirrors, driver's seat height adjustment and a CD player.
Another £1500 buys the TS2, which adds alloy wheels, side and curtain airbags, extra speakers for the stereo, audio controls on the steering wheel, leather trim on the gearknob and air-conditioning.
Mazda dealers are taking orders now, with first deliveries in March 2008.
