Mazda has launched a special edition of its RX-8 coupe, named 'Evolve' after the original concept car unveiled at the Detroit Motor Show in 2000 from which it was first developed.
The Evolve special edition has the larger 228bhp rotary engine from the range, which speeds the car to 62mph in 6.4 seconds, and powers the car to a top speed of 146mph.
Buyers of the limited-edition car, which goes on sale later this month, can expect it to come in two colours not available in other RX-8s – 400 cars are being produced in Copper red, and another 100 in Phantom blue.
Standard equipment in the cars includes 18-inch alloy wheels and other cosmetic exterior detailing, including polished aluminium side air outlet fins, dark silver headlamp bezels, chrome exhaust surrounds and 'Evolve' badging.
The car's interior is trimmed in leather and Alcantara upholstery, and has a black leather steering wheel, gear knob and handbrake lever.
Evolve editions will be priced at £23,900, the same as a standard 228bhp RX-8 with leather trim.
