Production at the old MG Rover factory in Longbridge has restarted, after three years of inactivity.

Now under the ownership of Chinese manufacturer Nanjing Automotive (NAC), the factory is initially producing the MG TF roadster, which will go on sale in the UK later this year.

Quality boss Paul Stowe says the company has concentrated on improving the car's reliability.

NAC says Longbridge will also act as a research and development centre. Currently, around 200 people are working at Longbridge, compared with the 6000 that were employed when MG Rover went bust in 2005, but NAC hopes strong sales here and in China will allow it to increase production and offer more jobs in the future.

Prices, specifications and details of dealers will be released closer to the launch of the reborn TF.
