MG has revealed the launch date for its MG6 fastback and saloon.
The MG6 hatchback, MG's first all-new car for 15 years, will go on sale in the UK from late May. The saloon version will follow in July.
Buyers will initially have to settle for petrol engines, with diesels not scheduled to arrive until summer 2012.
MG says the saloon's launch date has been moved forward following positive customer reaction in focus groups.
The company expects the cars to be priced between £15,000 and £20,000, and says this will give the car a unique position in the UK market as a competitively priced sports saloon.
The manufacturer is hoping to sell cars through 45 dealers, but admits that just 23 have signed up so far.
MG plans to establish itself in the UK before it looks to Europe.
