The Mini 1.4D has been named as the UK's slowest-depreciating used car, according to a new survey by EurotaxGlass's.
The analysis of residual values of three-year-old cars found the Mini has an average trade-in value of 63.2%.
However, the Mini 1.4D's residual value has dropped from last year's figure of 71%, when it was also won the same title. The fall from its 2007 peak equates to about £600 off its current trade in value.
The Mini's strong image and tiny running costs are seen as major contributors to its strong performance.
New entries into EurotaxGlass's top 10 are small, fuel-efficient and low-cost models.
The worst performer was the Alfa 166, which retains just 12% of its value after three years, according to the survey.
The residual value top 10 is as follows:
1. BMW Mini One D 63.2%
2. Citroen C1 1.0/1.4 HDi 61.2%
3. Ferrari F430 60.9%
4. Toyota Aygo 1.0 60.6%
5. Peugeot 107 1.0 57.4%
6. Smart ForTwo 56.7%
7. Seat Leon 1.9/2.0 TDI 55.4%
8. Lamborghini Murcielago 55.2%
9. Toyota Prius 1.5 T4 55.0%
