The electric Mitsubishi i-Miev has gone on sale in the UK today for £23,990.
The i-Miev is eligible for the Government’s electric car grant, which means buyers get a discount of up to £5000 on the car's £28,990 list price. Total funding of £43 million has so far been guaranteed up to March 2012.
Fitted with a 47kW motor, the i-Miev can do 0-60mph in 13 seconds and top 80mph. If drivers are gentle with their right foot, the batteries will last up to 100 miles before needing to be recharged.
Quick chargers being developed by power companies mean that the i-Miev could reach 80% charge in just half an hour, but a full charge on a household supply will take seven hours.
