Mitsubishi has just dropped a massive hint about what the Evo X will look like.
These sketches show the Prototype X, Mitsubishi's Detroit concept car, which "has been created to give a clear and accurate design vision of the next generation of the Lancer Evolution."
Closely based on the new Lancer saloon, which will be revealed at Detroit in production form, the Evo adds wider arches, bonnet intakes, a bigger rear wing and a much deeper front bumper. The rear sports a new diffuser package.
It’s likely that the Evo X will still use a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine, but will take the electronic four-wheel drive and centre differential of the current car to a new level for even better grip. It is also expected to feature a more sophisticated and effective braking system.
The latest in Mitsubishi's line of high-performance Evos will be in a showroom near you early in 2008.
