Side impact 83%
Child protection 55% 3/5 stars
Pedestrian 28% 2/4 starsBoth driver and passenger face the risk of chest and upper leg injuries in frontal impacts in the Berlingo. Head protection is good and overall a decent result was obtained.
Side-impact results were better than the frontal trials for the Berlingo, but occupants still face the prospect of chest injuries in the car.
All-in-all, the 18-month and three-year-old dummies were well protected in their Britax Baby Safe and Kiddy-Life Universals seats. The older child’ head was considered to be vulnerable in side impacts, however.
Little of the Berlingo bonnet provides much cushioning for pedestrians, but the leading edge of the bumper did a little better, and two out of a possible four stars were awarded.
